TWO BELMONT WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYERS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
      GAME DAY CENTRAL

Macon, Ga. – Two Belmont women’s tennis players earned All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors when the awards were announced Thursday prior to the beginning of the A-Sun Tennis Championships in Johnson City, Tennessee. Junior Whitnie Warren earned All-Atlantic Sun second team honors, while freshman Abby Leatherwood was named to the conference’s All-Freshman team.

Whitnie Warren, a Brentwood, Tennessee product, (pictured left) earned second team honors in her first season with the Bruins after transferring from Samford University. The junior posted an 11-10 singles mark and a 5-5 record versus A-Sun competition, which led the team in both categories. She also had eight doubles wins with two partners, which tied her for the team lead. Warren is the fifth different Belmont women’s tennis player to earn All-Conference honors since BU joined the league in 2001.

Abby Leatherwood was named to the A-Sun All-Freshman team. The Ashville, Ohio native had a 10-9 singles record, which was second on the team, and had eight doubles victories, which tied her for the team lead. Leatherwood is the fourth Belmont tennis player to earn A-Sun All-Freshman honors.

“I am really pleased that Whitnie and Abby were honored by the conference,” said Mark Srouji, Belmont head coach. “They really worked hard this year and I am happy they were rewarded with these honors.”
