Women's Tennis Defeats Rival Lipscomb 7-0 (4/9/08)

The Bruins Host Western Kentucky on Friday Nashville, Tenn. – The Belmont tennis teams wrapped up its Atlantic Sun Conference schedule with a split with rival Lipscomb in matches played Wednesday evening at the Davis Complex on the Belmont campus. The Belmont women won 7-0, while the men lost 5-2. In the women’s match, the Bruins cruised to victory over the visiting Bisons. Belmont won two of the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match and then captured all six singles matches to clinch the match victory. On the men’s side, Lipscomb won two of the three doubles matches to earn the first point. The BU doubles duo of Ignacio Gesto and Felipe Cirne Lima did win at number one doubles as they beat Daniel Hangstefer and Mario Hernandez 8-5. In singles, the Bisons won four of the six singles matches to capture the match win. Belmont’s two wins came at the numbers one and two positions. Ignacio Gesto won at number one over Daniel Hangstefer 6-1, 7-5, while Felipe Cirne Lima beat Josh Cummings at number two in three sets. The Belmont teams wrap up their 2008 regular season on Friday as they host Western Kentucky at 2:00pm.
