Women's Tennis Picks Up First A-Sun Win at Kennesaw State (3/13/08)
WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS KENNESAW
STATE 5-2
The Bruins Host Campbell on March 27 Kennesaw, Ga. – The Belmont women’s tennis team picked up their first conference win of the season as they defeated Kennesaw State 5-2 in an Atlantic Sun match played Thursday in Kennesaw, Georgia. The victory also ended a five match losing streak for the Bruins. In doubles, Belmont came out strong, capturing all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. In singles, the Bruins won in straight sets at four of the six positions to clinch the match victory over the homestanding Lady Owls. At number two, Tatiana Pozo won over Agatha Palider 6-1, 6-2, while Katie Rhodes won at number four over Paula Takara 6-4, 7-5. At the five and six positions, Lindsay Bennett defeated Caroline Page 6-1, 6-3, while Abby Leatherwood (pictured right) beat Jenna Wright 6-1, 6-4. The Bruins (4-8, 1-5) are now off for nearly two weeks. They will be back in action at home on March 27 as they host Campbell.
