WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS AT MERCER

The Bruins Travel to Kennesaw State Thursday Macon, Ga. – The Belmont women’s tennis team fell just short again as the Bruins fell in hard fought A-Sun match to homestanding Mercer 4-3 Wednesday afternoon in Macon, Georgia. The match started well for the Bruins as they captured the first point of the match in doubles. Belmont won at the number two and three positions. Whitnie Warren and Katie Rhodes beat Cali Sachs and Amalia Bugge 9-7 at number two, while Abby Leatherwood and Kelly Pence won at number three over Karen Bellman and Kelly Blount 8-6. However, in singles, Mercer came back strong. The Bears won four of the six singles matches to clinch the close 4-3 victory. Belmont did have two players win singles matches. Tatiana Pozo won at number two over Irys Citko 7-5, 6-2, while Whitnie Warren won at number three with a straight sets victory over Priscilla Dias. The Bruins (3-8, 0-5) are back in action tomorrow (Thursday) as they travel to Kennesaw State.
