Mafiaoza's/Belmont Women's Soccer Invitational All-Tournament Team Named

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After an exciting weekend of soccer, the coaching staffs of the teams participating in the inaugural Mafiaoza’s/Belmont Women’s Soccer Invitational - Murray State, University of Louisiana at Monroe, Western Kentucky and host-Belmont – announced the players named to the All-Tournament Team on Monday.
Western Kentucky, who finished as the top team at the two-day tournament with two wins, had four players honored – midfielder Alaina Atcher, forward Amanda Buechel, defender Hayley Marsh and goalkeeper Libby Stout. All four players started and played in both matchups over the weekend. Atcher logged 163 minutes on the field and scored a goal while Buechel notched a goal and an assist over the two days and had a .833 shot on goal percentage. Marsh played all 180 minutes of both matches as did Stout in goal, who recorded 10 saves and a 2-0 record.
Sophomores Madison Porter (Marietta, Ga.) and Jessica Rix (Carmel, Ind.) and freshman Alex Morgado (Suwanee, Ga.) were the Belmont representatives on the All-Tournament team. Porter came off the bench in both matches, scoring the second goal of her career against ULM while Morgado netted her first collegiate goal in the same game. Rix played all 180 minutes of the two weekend matches and started both contests.
Murray State finished 1-1 during the invitational. Midfielders Renata Figueira and Sophie Hargreaves were the Racers selected to the All-Tournament team. Figueira scored both of Murray State’s goals against ULM. Hargreaves started and played in both matches and notched two assists during the weekend.
Defenders Samantha Cashman and Rachel Hobson were named to the All-Tournament team from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Both players logged 180 minutes and earned starts over the two matches.
Belmont returns to action on Tuesday, September 23rd for the Battle of the Boulevard. The Bruins will travel to take on rival Lipscomb beginning at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live the internet on ASun.TV. |
