Lorie Warren Named Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Month for September

Macon, Ga. – A year after winning the Atlantic Sun’s Player of the Year award, Belmont’s Lorie Warren enjoyed success in the summer in capturing the Tennessee Amateur and it continued in September as she parlayed two top-three finishes to win her third A-Sun Golfer of the Month award, the conference office announced on Wednesday Warren opened her fall season by winning the Great Smokies Intercollegiate for the fifth title of her Belmont career. At that tournament, she broke the school record for lowest 36-hole score and tied her own 18-hole record. Her 36-hole total of 138 represented the second lowest individual score in the history of the tournament. Over her last four rounds at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate over the past two seasons, Warren has carded three rounds of 69 and one 74 for a stroke average of 70.25. For the year, she leads the team in scoring average at 74.0 and has posted the lowest on the team in all five rounds the team has played. The Atlantic Sun Conference is an 11-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast. The A-Sun consists of some of the most dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, Campbell University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina Upstate and Stetson University. |
