Gulf Shores, Ala. - The Belmont women's golf team finished in seventh place at this week's UAB Fall Beach Blast held at The Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Belmont finished in seventh place after carding a team score of 312 in Tuesday's final round to finish with a 36-hole mark of 618. They finished 23 shots behind tournament champion Memphis.

The Bruins had one golfer among the top-20. Freshman Shay Sullivan had her highest finish as a collegian as she tied for 11th place, her second top-20 finish of the season. She shot a 78 on Tuesday to finish with a score of 152.

Fellow freshman Megan Murphy tied for 26th place with a two round score of 155. Sophomores Kelly Maguigan and Jennifer Newman finished one shot back in a tie for 31st place at 156, while freshman Janet Steen tied for 36th place with a score of 157.

The individual medalist was Carolyn Cochran of host UAB, who finished with a 36-hole score of 142.

This tournament wraps up the fall season for the Bruins. They return to action on March 1-2, 2010 at the Lady Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Alabama.
