Clarksville, Tenn. – Belmont senior Lorie Warren captured her second individual title of the season and her sixth overall as a collegian as the Belmont women’s golf team finished tied for fourth at the F&M Bank Austin Peay Intercollegiate held Monday and Tuesday in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Warren, the reigning Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Month, shot a two-over par 74 in Tuesday’s final round to clinch medalist honors by one stroke over Joyce Trus of Murray State. Warren finished with a score of 145, while Trus carded a 146. The Hendersonville, Tennessee native becomes the second Belmont golfer to win the Austin Peay Intercollegiate, joining Audra Williams, who captured the individual title in 2005.

As a team, the Bruins shot 317 in Tuesday’s final round to finish with a 36-hole score of 637. That score moved them from their fifth place position after Monday’s round to finish in a tie for fourth with Morehead State. They finished 17 shots behind tournament champion Tennessee Tech

Belmont had one other golfer among the top-40. Freshman Jennifer Newman tied for 38th place after finishing with a 36-hole score of 164. Other Belmont scores included: Lauren Oeser (T-51st, 167), Laura Dyson (T-57th, 169), Kelly Maguigan (T-64th, 171), Ginna Beazley (88th, 191).

The Bruins will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the Troy Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama.
