TENNIS TEAMS LOSE AT HOME
TO CAMPBELL
The Bruins Travel to Gardner-Webb Saturday
Nashville, Tenn. – The Belmont tennis teams were
swept in Atlantic Sun matches by Campbell on Thursday afternoon at the
Davis Complex on the Belmont campus. The women fell 6-1, while the men
lost 7-0.
In the women’s match, it was a struggle by both teams to capture
the doubles point. Belmont won at number one as Linda Johansson and Tatiana
Pozo beat Alfonzo and Saenz 8-5. The Camels picked up a win at number
three and then won at number two in a tiebreaker 9-8 to capture the first
point of the match. Campbell then won five of six singles matches to clinch
the victory. The lone Belmont win came at number three singles as Whitnie
Warren defeated Liza Bensimon 6-2, 7-5.
On the men’s side, the Camels cruised to victory as they captured
all three doubles matches and all three singles matches.
The Belmont tennis teams are back in action on Saturday as they travel
to Gardner-Webb. The matches begin at 10:00am CT.
