List of 2009 Honorees

Norman, Okla. – Two Belmont golfers, Danny Amundson and Scott O’Brien were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholars as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its 2009 honorees on Thursday. Amundson and O’Brien were among 108 Division I golfers to earn the honor.

For Danny Amundson, this is the second straight season he has been named a GCAA All-American Scholar. During the 2008-2009 season, the Sioux Falls, South Dakota native led the team in scoring with a 73.7 average and posted three top-10 and five top-20 finishes. His best finish was a third place showing at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate last month where he helped lead the Bruins to the team championship. In addition to this award, he also was honored as a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Spring at Large Team earlier this year. Danny graduated from Belmont last May with a degree in Finance.

Scott O’Brien earns All-American Scholar status for the first time. During the 2008-09 season, the Brookings, South Dakota native was second on the team in scoring with a 73.8 average. He had two top-10 finishes, including a season-best fourth place showing at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate. In addition, he carded a career low 67 in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship last April.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II and NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 in Division I, II and III and 3.5 in NAIA.
