Andy Wicke Chosen for NCAA.com Blog
Oct. 29, 2008
NASHVILLE, TENN. - - Belmont University men's basketball senior Andy Wicke (Hendersonville, Tenn.) has been selected to contribute to the NCAA.com student-athlete blog program.
A member of three consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference championship teams and one of several returning standouts from the Bruins' 2008 NCAA Tournament squad that nearly defeated three-time National Champion Duke, Wicke will provide fans with first-hand accounts of his daily life - both on and off the court.
Though the complete list of men's basketball contributors is yet to be finalized, Wicke will be one of a select few - across all three NCAA division levels nationwide - to participate.
For perspective, NCAA.com student-athlete blog contributors for the fall season have come from some of the most storied programs in the country: Florida, Ohio State and Appalachian State Football, Nebraska and Stanford Volleyball, and North Carolina Women's Soccer.
"We are thrilled that Andy has been chosen to participate in this new venture on NCAA.com," Belmont Director of Athletics Mike Strickland said. "This is a tremendous honor for Belmont; we can't think of anyone better suited to represent our university and men's basketball program than Andy."
Wicke will file weekly blog entries, beginning in early November. The entries can be accessed on NCAA.com The men's basketball team opens its season Thursday, Nov. 6 with an exhibition contest against Sewanee. Tip-off is set for 7 pm CT from the Curb Event Center. |
