NASHVILLE, TENN. - - Belmont University men's basketball head coach Rick Byrd will take part in the 2009 Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Breakfast Thursday, Oct. 8 at Wildhorse Saloon.

Byrd, along with Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings, Tennessee State head coach John Cooper, and Lipscomb head coach Scott Sanderson, will preview the upcoming season in a casual, open forum discussion of college basketball.

Longtime Nashville on-air sports personality George Plaster of the Bruins' flagship station 104.5 The Zone will serve as event emcee.

Coach Byrd has participated in similar events for the Nashville Sports Council and NIT Season Tip-Off.

The breakfast begins at 7:00 am CT, with the program starting at 7:30 am CT. Tickets are $30 per person.
