As with its transitions from NAIA to NCAA Division-I and from Striplin Gymnasium to the Curb Event Center, so to has Belmont's student-support section undergone a monumental makeover. From its inception in 1988 as the `BaCMO' - Belmont College Motivation Organization - to its renascence as `The M.O.B.' - Motivational Organization of Belmont - in 2001, the Bruins now enjoy one of the most loyal and vocally intimidating student sections in the nation. The brainchild of Belmont loyalist David Fish, The MOB inspires and motivates the entire Bruin program. Moreover, it has quickly become the signature piece to Belmont's decided home court edge. Case in point, the Bruins are 39-8 in conference home games over the past five seasons - by far the best mark in the Atlantic Sun during that span. Now under the leadership of a quintet of undergraduates, the MOB looks to continue its remarkable growth from the past seven seasons. Now approaching 700 "Mobsters" per year, this organization is an unquestioned part of the campus social landscape. Once nothing more than a few die-hard college basketball fans, now the MOB is a force to be reckoned with. Visitors beware. The group is open to ALL students at Belmont - both undergraduate and graduate - and includes a t-shirt, discount card, and numerous giveaways, prizes, and tailgates throughout the year. Membership periods last through July of each year, and must be renewed from year to year. While most members join at the student activities fair at the end of August, you are free to join at any time of the year by emailing an officer or calling the athletic department at 460-8033. For the 2008-2009 school year, membership will be FREE to all students!
